In this unit I will learn about / what:
  1. Key competences and how the EU got to the need for innovation of the school curriculum.
  2. What importance key competences could have for social inclusion.
Introduction into the topic:

Key competences shape a transferable, multifunctional package of skills, abilities, attitudes and knowledge, etc., which can considerably improve the chances for personal fulfilment, social inclusion of children and young people and employment. The first key competences (literacy, numeracy and ICT) are the foundations for all key competences. Their improvement would mean filling in the academic gaps and would improve the abilities for communication with peers. The transversal key competences, which have a more prominent role in curricula, would develop cultural, civic, entrepreneurial abilities and the overall learning to learn competence, which would enable the acquisition of new knowledge and enabling the use of this knowledge for personal and public benefit.
